I've got pitbulls...all of them are on flea and tick medicine, even my cats. I also have the perimeter of my house sprayed yearly for ants, No issues.

As for pets and spiders my dogs have no interest in the spiders. Even spiders loose on the floor or walls in the spider room. In fact Lucy my female pit will point them out to me. Shes really gentle to all tiny creatures. Now my cats are a different story. Cats are evil...
