I've had my Rosehair for quite a few months now. She was bred and raised in a pet store. Ever since I brought her home she began to go bald on the abdomen. I know that can be normal but it's had grown significantly worse. Her back legs have no hairs on them and she's always quite reserved. She has not molted with me and I've had her for about a year now. Any advice?

- How big is the spider? Are you aware how slow growing roseas are? If it's anywhere near adult size, they would have had to had it for a number of years. Wild caught roseas are still being imported, and that's almost all of what pet stores carry.

- Most NW tarantulas have urticating hairs on their abdomens, hairs with tiny hooks on them. Those are kicked off when the spider feels annoyed or threatened. Yours is kicking off hairs because it wants to be left alone. Are you prodding it or handling it? if so, that's the cause. These are wild animals.
