Hello,
I got my first T a couple weeks ago at an expo and it’s either a sling or spiderling? It’s maybe 3/4 inch and when I got it it’s abdomen was a light tan color and then it got a small dark circle n now the dark circle is even bigger with barely any tan color left. He/she seems fine and is taking crickets and pieces of super worms fine so far. It is a Brazilian black and white or nhandu coloratovillosus. Thanks for any info!

That’s what Iv been wondering. I’ll keep an eye on it n see what happens. It still eats but seems to be a little picky taking food. I end up having to pinch the crickets head and just let it scavenge it. But then it eventually gets it.

Some species grow slower than others, it could be 6 months to a year old at that size, depending on species, diet and temperature kept at. Regardless, alway make sure it has access to water. Nhandu is a slower grower.

Booty looks fat for sure. Slow down frequency of offering food, if it's still taking food, and expect a molt pending.

Thank you for the tips. Yea i plan to slow down and get on a good feeding schedule. Any input on the darker area on the abdomen? What is it exactly, etc?

The darker area appears to be a patch of urticating hair. When the tarantula is in premolt, they usually rub this patch until it's bald. It will be shiny and black when it's time for a molt. :)

It’s not shiny and def not bald tho, I can see little hairs on it. Could it possibly be on the new exo that is dark? Iv seen pics of the bald spots before and it’s not like that. Or could it just be where it’s still so young and is getting adult colors? Sorry for all the questions.

It's young and it's starting to grow its setae. :)
