The part that KILLS me about the pet stores is that they decide to sell these animals, and they literally do NOTHING to learn about their care. For many, they are just little oddities to draw in customers; bugs that aren't deserving of proper care or attention. It's disgusting. It seems that they take the first crap care sheet they find online and pass the information along like it's gospel. The customer, wrongfully assuming that a store that would choose to sell tarantulas might actually know something about their care, then takes the animal home and replicates this poor husbandry. Many never realize the error until they stumble on places like this forum and discover that they were fed bad info. Sadly, some refuse to accept the information. I've literally had people tell me that their going to ignore my suggestions because it's not what the pet store clerk told them. It's so frustrating. In the case of the tarantula above, it ended up dying during the molt, likely do to the fact that the newspaper was sapping the moisture from the air and there wasn't a water dish (I used to use it for snakes...it absorbs water big time). Sorry...end of tirade!
