Had this little creature for about 3 months now and I just can't figure her out. This is my first attempt at a bracypelma... Kept a few Rosie's in my day successfully but wanted to try something new.

ALL she does is either hide for days on days in her hide OR climbs the glass and many times is suspended. Humidity checks out and temp is spot on. I just can't figure her out. She seems uncomfortable. One day she's tame as can be and the next she's the most skittish, nervous wreck ever.

I wanted to go this route because I thought the Rosie's were boring. But this thing could take the win. Any tips? Like I said. Either she's glued to the glass or in hiding for weeks. Possibly considereding getting rid of him/her for Chaco golden knee. Thoughts? Tips?! Thanks guy!

Ps. Here's a few pics of a normal day

My b emilia will occasionally wall-hang, but very close to the substrate. I'd say it's a good idea to move him/her to a more shallow enclosure, especially if they have a habit of climbing. I'd also remove the decorative rocks, at least around the edges, because your T could fall onto them, which even from a short height, could be bad. I don't know about your b emilia, but mine is NOT a very skilled climber. Hope this helped :)

EDIT: I've noticed my T's (particularly my P scrofa) will wall hang when the temps are lower. Have you tried seeing how it acts with mid or even high 70s? maybe someone with more experience could weigh in on if this speculation is grounded in anyway, just something I've noticed with mine.

EDIT2: That also seems like a very large enclosure. I've read T's stress out in large cages before, which could explain the skittishness, but again haven't experienced it for myself. I use kritter keepers.

Thanks! And I forgot to mention. It's an exo terra 12x12x12. And the "rock" background is styrofoam.... Seems like she's chewing up the edges at the top. Seems like she REALLY wants out haha. I'll post a pic of that damage tomorrow. Thanks for the tips. I'm for s novice but he or she is for sure the strangest T I've kept.

Sometimes it takes them awhile to adjust, especially with a large enclosure. I'm not saying you need to move her, it will just take her more time to settle. As far as temp, humidity...she should have very low humidity..it shouldn't even be a consideration unless it's too high, and as The JuicyFruit said, high or low temps and humidity will make a terrestrial climb the walls. I've seen it too many times when humidity reaches 100% here in south Texas. Despite being a controlled environment, those outside changes WILL reach your t room, in most cases, even if it's lessened quite a bit by walls and A/c or heaters. I've had a few very experienced keepers tell me that if you change enclosures, sometimes it changes their behavior, so you might try putting her in something smaller for the time being. See how she reacts to it after a week. :) You can always move her back when she's bigger.

Edit: Those fine mesh screen tops are bad news, especially for a climbing terrestrial. I've never had an issue with the large mesh, but those fine ones will cause a spider to get its claws caught, and could cause serious damage.

Thanks!! I'm in Texas as well! And as far as humidity goes it's bone dry in her enclosure (I say her, but not sure). I'm thinking of moving her to something smaller for the time being. Thanks for the tips!

You know, I have a 6" regalis in the exact same enclosure that never shows herself..I think she's getting moved to something smaller tonight, as an experiment.
