I had convinced myself a male.

Cheers buddy, I must be useless then! Was convinced male as only molted 2 month ago too, almost 4 inches as well and looks really leggy compared to my last mature female of these. Maybe she is just the Claudia Schieffer of the species huh? Lol. I am pleased that everyone thinks female though ☺. Yep, @Casey K. Seemed pretty confident.

i dont go by other means much. its just a guess that way...molt is the way to go!

I agree, but even with a molt to look at I still seem to struggle......can't get my head round the differences....lol. one day it will just click and I will be sexing like a good un....ha ha

lol....the bigger they r the easier it is. I sike myself out all the time with them too when they r little. but no worries man thats what u have all of us for! :}

Thank all of you for the props, lol....anyway, as stated (several times) before....brachy females have one of if not "the" largest vaginas out of all Tarantula sp. I mean look at it! You can CLEARLY see the grand canyon in that molt!

I hope you didnt mind my borrowing your photo, Phil, but i wanted to point out to all of those wanting to understand how to sex a molt that it's quite easy if the molt is large enough. Phil, your photo is perfect for use. I'd say you have an almost mature/mature female because her spermathecae is quite dark. Male tarantulas dont have this set of what appears to be "lips" between the interior set of book lungs. These are female sex organs.
