    C. fimbriatus Re-Housing

Glad to hear all went smoothly. Always nice when they co-operate. Good looking sling, well fed from the size of its rump. Rarely see my little one, content to stay in the hide, only shows the tips of the legs.

What T are you waiting to own?

    S. hoffmanni. Rarely, if ever, offered as slings, most are WC adults from Costa Rica. Last time I saw them offered they were sold out when I contacted the seller. These are a highly prized species to the fossorial enthusiasts

    Haplopelma sp big/black

I'm sure, down the road, you'll change your mind. Sooner or later keepers will acquire an OB species, with some "one is enough", others opt for more and become hooked. ;) Being able to see them occasionally is part of the mystique. :)

Its on the "bucket list". ;) Expansion of the T room is the priority at this time. 8'X8'X12' has become crowded, removing a wall, creating an 8'X8'X24' room.

    Favorite Genus

No specific genus for me. My preference is Ornithoctoninae & Harpactirinae sub families. :)

    Latest transfer....different method.

Always looking for different and safe methods to transfer the T's, I gave this way a try. While clearing items for the room expansion, found a stack of thin cardboard backing sheets. I came up with this, taking a ruler, razor knife and tape, fashioned a tunnel-like bridge to connect the...

    Last week's builds.

Thanks Denny. The satisfaction is rewarding in itself. Plus the fact if I were to purchase homes for all my arboreals, I would be bankrupt,.[emoji6]

    Last week's builds.

The last 10 or so I've used Locktite 20 minute epoxy, available at most DIY centers. Cost is $4 and enough to build 6-7 large enclosures. Parts are given 2 hours in a jig to allow a firm set up, still requires 24 hours to fully cure. FYI, when using a jig, its good to place wax paper on the...

    C. huahini

Finally got a decent photo, mainly keeps hidden at the bottom, but decided to stroll the enclosure. I keep it in a 12X12X18 enclosure, classified as terrestrial, some prefer an arboreal lifestyle. A fairly heavy webber, bottom is a maze of silk tunnels, but molts like an arboreal. Disturb the...

    dubia roach colony questions

Actually, I've never used any cleaner crews. Nymphs will do the cleaning up of waste. Every 6 months I remove the rack, catch the remaining roaches and give the enclosure a thorough cleaning. I do place >1" of sifted topsoil in the bottom, 1/2 moistened, change the egg crate and then put the...

Thank you all for the kind replies, much appreciated. @ leaveittoweaver, try making a small one at first. I build 3 sizes for shelf height and uniformity. Only drawback, my corners aren't crystal clear, but the tarantulas don't care. Lol! @ SasyStace, thank you dear. @ Denny Dee, I know you've...

    dubia roach colony questions

Posting a couple pics of my B. lateralis colony. Stopped keeping dubia years ago. Roaches will eat nearly anything you provide them, been around millions of years, most feed vegetables and fruits. For dry food, I crush plain bran flakes with cornmeal and oats mixed together. I provide a small...

    Poecilotheria miranda (Bengal spotted)

I haven't been able to locate anybody locally that has/had miranda. I did go to MBT's website and in his comments, states these are often out in the open. My P. striata is always visible, can't say that about my hanumavilasumica or tigrinawesseli, they are the more the reclusive type. Lol!

Try it! Great stuff, hard to get large diameter pieces without paying a premium. Try your local florist, they might have some, may be short lenght/diameter. Its used in centerpieces to hold air plants and such.

Hi Ghost. Yes thats cholla cactus wood. I'm beginning to use more of this in my small arboreal enclosures. Totally different look and the tarantula doesn't seem to care.

    How to feed Avic?

2 weeks post molt, its hungry and needs fed. I don't tong feed any of mine, never have, avoiding the chance of doing any damage to the fangs. To feed post molt: slings I give 3-5 days, older (juvie/adult) 5-7 days. Dependent on coloration of fangs, if visible and all black, its ok to feed...

My blue cobalt wont burrow is this a bad sign

Nicolas has brought up sex and substrate type. If it is a male, possibly mature, is only interested in mating and won't burrow. If female, she may need more time to dig a burrow, no set time frame each has their own characteristics in doing this. Substrate for lividum needs to be moist, tropical...

Hopefully the last new home she will have to endure. I'm posting a photo of each home she has resided in. From left to right: 1) vial she was shipped in. 2) 1st home ( 24 hrs.) after receiving, size 3.75" dia. X 6.5" tall (converted 40 oz. p-nut butter container). 3) 4.5"X4.5"X10.5". 4) This...

    Should we change anything?

Nice looking porteri. I have 5, all much older, each with different quirks and have always been very lady like. Agree on changing out the sand to something more suitable and ditching the sponge in the water dish. Topsoil from a local DIY is what mine are on with some sphagnum moss on top to...
