Can a wild Lasiodora become a pet?

I guess your one of those guys? The "all tarantulas were smuggled 50 years ago so it's ok now" Will maybe your great grandfather kept slaves? Does that make it right? I wasn't in the hobby 50 years ago. I can't be held responsible for what people did back then and neither can you. But we can all...

Can a wild Lasiodora become a pet?

I think EVERYONE should keep tarantulas, they are beautiful, fascinating creatures to keep. Not all tarantulas were once in the wild. Unless you only keep would caught specimens. Mine are captive bred. I'm sure the OP can find legal, captive bred tarantulas to keep.

Can a wild Lasiodora become a pet?

Mine was captive bred, from a reputable dealer. One that advertises on this forum.

Can a wild Lasiodora become a pet?

So you advocate willfully disregarding wildlife laws? Do you support smuggling and brown boxing as well?

Can a wild Lasiodora become a pet?

Search the internet. I'm sure there are vendors in Brazil. It may take a bit of work to find some.

If y'all hadn't noticed, OP is from Brazil, so he's definitely thinking about collecting his own.

The next question is, is it legal to take and posses a wild Lasiodora?

    Too cold?

I use an oil filled radiator style heater. This one has a max of 900 watts though they do sell a 1500 watt version too. This one does the trick for me even when the temps outside are in the teens.

    Gentle handling

Steve also famously said "this snake won't bite me" on live TV. Guess what happened next? Yep, right on his face. The point is these are wild animals, and we cannot predict their behavior 100% of the time. Things can and will happen.

    Not Eating bc of Winter

Wow that enclosure has carpeting and hardwood floors. My tarantulas do much better in their enclosures.

    T-Stirmi Troubles

Perhaps the heat lamp dessicated her to the point of no return. Couple that with an inappropriate substrate that can't hold the moisture this T needs and you mentioned frequently drinking leads me to believe this T was dried out and cooked.

    Am I Wrong?

I wouldn't worry. With those business practices in place they won't be around long.

This is how to start a bio active terrarium

Of course nature does it best. Any of who thinks we come close to replicating nature is foolish. Not many things are necessary in life. Eating steak and lobster isn't necessary, but I enjoy it. This is about information and I pointed the OP towards a hobby with relevant information for two...

This is how to start a bio active terrarium

@menavodi Nice thread. Good looking enclosure and impressive that you built it yourself. But in the interest of accurate information, that is NOT a bioactive enclosure. What you have there is an enclosure with dirt and plants. Maybe a bit more of a naturalistic enclosure but not a bioactive...
