I have three tarantulas. A green Bottle blue, and a salmon pink birdester. All three decided to stop eating at the same time. The gbb I am most concerned about. The other two I am not so worried as they are both still highly active. The gbb is about 4 inch diagonal legspan about 4 years old. And...

    wild tarantulas

In our vacation to Peru we encountered two types of tarantula. I believe the one in the burrow is a rose hair. Located at roughly 3500 meters high. And a this mature male which we found at and altitude of 2300 meters which I don't know what species. Both found in the andes mountains of Peru.

    underside picture of b vagans.

I only have 2 slings. So it's hard to see since the underside of our new gbb looks the same. I'll just have to be patient. I am sure they are born female and male. Just can't tell.

    underside picture of b vagans.

Our b vagans is roughly 1.2 inch dls. I still believe it is too small for accurately determining but here's a picture for those who want to give it a shot. I am hoping it turns out to be a she when it grows up.

Our B vagans seems to have resumed its interest on building a burrow after 2 molts of not showing any sign of intention of digging. The past couple nights it has tried to dig but seems to give up. will move some dirt, then it keeps walking, goes back to the same location moves more dirt and so...

Any advise for a new tarantula keeper

Tarantulas aren't the most active pets. give her a water dish and some time to acclimate to the enclosure. Our chalchodes became considerably more active a week after we received it and started moving soil and laying down trip lines in its enclosure.

    Needing help identifying my T

slings are very hard to identify at that size. If you got it from a reputable breeder you can be sure that they sent you the right species :)
