Actually, I'm now thinking a P. cambridgei 6" female might well be my very first tarantula. The Oregon dealer who I got my 2 scorpions from, H. arizonensis & P. spinigerus, has a 6" P. cambridgei in stock & a sub-adult S. mesaensis (Arizona Dune Scorpion) which I also want.
What old world did you get? There are some old worlds that make good beginner Ts (C. darlingi/marshalli, H. pulchripes & M. balfouri are a few good ones) and some people can only own OW species cause their reactions to urticating setae are so unbelievably bad (although that typically isn't the...
I wish the Brazilian Black wasn't so slow growing, otherwise I'd take it under consideration as one of my first Ts. If I could find a sub adult or adult female maybe, though they seem few and far between (and expensive).
What would you say the temperament of the P. cambridgei is in your experience (if you've owned any)? On the other arachno-forum one guy said "Really depends on what you feel comfortable with. I got a pair of irminia after keeping a versicolor, and I would recommend keeping an arboreal for long...
I'm gonna say C. cyaneopubescens & A. geniculata/N. chromatus (pretty close between those latter two, though I might have to give the Genic a slight edge).
Would something like a P. cambridgei (Trinidad Chevron Tarantula) make for an okay (even if not ideal) 3rd tarantula for a beginner? My first T will probably be a 3 1/2" or so GBB & my 2nd T will probably be a 1" unsexed A. geniculata or N. chromatus (leaning more towards the Genic). I think the...
Eh, unless you're planning on collecting mainly scorpions instead. Already have 2 scorps I got just recently, Desert Hairy Scorpion (H. arizonensis) and Devil Scorpion (P. spinigerus). Next is gonna be a tarantula, probably a GBB, and then I have 2 other scorps I can think of I might want. The...
True, but I mostly wanna focus on scorps and only get like 1 or 2 T's. I'm starting to lean more GBB now, simply due to the striking colors and cause it's a good bit smaller than the other two. More of an "average" sized tarantula. 5-6" instead of 7-8" sometimes even 9" w/ the LP & Genic. Won't...
I vaguely remember having read it when I had it, and I think he mentioned that he thought the T. stirmi was more "forgiving" to keeper mistakes than the T. blondi and T. apophysis. Is that true?
More webbing, and they're also very colorful (as opposed to the LP which isn't very colorful at all, White Knee is still kinda colorful). Also smaller, pro and con. Not as impressive in that sense but also may not need as big of a tank. I'm still undecided between the 3, though I do know it's...
Both the LP and Genics are huge with the LP being slightly more so on average (though typically not by much). Is the hair kicking typically worse with the LP than it is the Genics?
