Help - juvenile C. versicolor at bottom of enclosure, tiny gritty things in water dish

Update - turns out the angle of the sun this time of year was bothering her, so I put a bandana over some of the top/sides and she’s back up to where she normally is! Doesn’t explain the weird substance in her dish, but I’ll keep an eye on her.

Help - juvenile C. versicolor at bottom of enclosure, tiny gritty things in water dish

Thanks! It’s a Vivarium Electronics enclosure I got at the East Bay Vivarium in Berkeley CA. I had to add a lot more ventilation, but since it’s acrylic it was pretty easy.

Help - juvenile C. versicolor at bottom of enclosure, tiny gritty things in water dish

That makes sense, though it’s been a few weeks and this is a somewhat new behavior. I was a lot less worried before I saw the grainy material in the dish - does that sound like impaction in your experience?

Help - juvenile C. versicolor at bottom of enclosure, tiny gritty things in water dish

Mittens is about 2.75” across, has always done well and up until a few weeks ago, was webbing the top of this enclosure like usual. I took the web down because she’d (I don't know if she's actually a she) molted and had a bunch of pieces scattered around (I waited a good few weeks before doing...

    C. versicolor growing VERY slowly

I’ve had Mittens since she(?) was a .5-.75” sling, and after 3 years, she’s only around 2.75.” Otherwise she seems healthy, takes prey down fast and furious, and has a pretty great little web treehouse. She’s in a 4" x 4" x 7-1/4" AMAC enclosure with coco fiber on the bottom with a bottle cap...

    Who's molted today

Update: she looks basically the same size. Is that a thing?

    Who's molted today

Spinelli (A. seemanni) molted last week, and I haven’t managed to get a good post-molt pic yet, so here she is prepping for the big event. She was 4.5” before molting, excited to see her new size! It’s been a WHILE.

    A. seemanni just being an A. seemanni

Update: it's been days, and she is still rockin' her dirt pile butt.

If only she was that smart lol

    Seemanni questions

Lol my seemanni has also only kicked hairs at her food. She’s more of an out in the open type, I think since she has a hide she’s just too lazy to make tunnels. Compared to my other two (H. chilensis and C. versicolor), she’s by far the derpiest

    any guitar players here?

Didn't expect to see another Maton player on here! I'm gonna go with tarantulas agreeing with my cat that guitars are an unnecessary racket ;)

    any guitar players here?

I've played since I was 13 or 14 (37 now). I have a Maton acoustic (Australia's equivalent to Gibson), and a '65 Fender Mustang. (High School Me will always be mad that I'm a lefty but play right handed, so I don't play a left handed Mustang like a certain grunge icon). I haven't messed around...
