It really depends on where you live. I'm in the states so I can only attest to that. As far as conservation goes, there isn't much in the way of anything to avoid. The biggest thing is ensuring that whatever species you do get, you make sure that it is captive bred and not wild caught. Most Ts...
Darn, I was hoping that wasn't the case. I got it from a friend who said the dealer sexed her female, but I just recently found out that the dealer sold him an A. Avic that was supposed to be female and also turned out male confirmed by molt.
My N. Coloratovillosus has finally come out of hiding to say hello this morning. Here are some pics of the little model. Also, I am attaching a couple vent shots if you guys wouldn't mind taking a look and seeing if you can determine sex? I know vents aren't reliable, but she destroyed her last...
You are pretty much in the same boat I am. I have had issues finding local breeders here, but I love on Whidbey island and the small local pet store is able to special order pretty much any species I ask for. Unfortunately I do not know of any in your area, closest known breeder I know to me is...
That's why I'm glad I have terrestrial species. I put at least half the tank in substrate so my cats can't knock it over cause they can get to both of them. My coloratovillosus just hides and my rosea throws up a threat pose and scares them, it's hilarious!
They have A. Diversipes slings at the local pet store for $30. I showed a picture of them to the wife and she agreed they are pretty, so I know she is at least thinking about it lol. I just got her a new bearded dragon, so I think she will let me get one more lol.
I'm considering doing this... I had my g rosea first, then a friend gave me my n colorato.... She almost killed him for bringing another spider in the house lol. I keep joking that I'm gonna get another while she is working... Only one day I won't joke anymore lol.
I remember reading the Colorato had aggressive eating habits, but I never realized it until I saw her eat! She makes my Rosea look like a bunny rabbit!
I have never had a pet that has shown more odd behavior then my Ts. Normally I can guess what my pets are doing, but with Ts I never know. It could be as simple as he is getting comfortable and just hanging out. As long as he's not curled up or dead, I'm sure it's normal.
Those looks are always the greatest. Me and my coworkers were talking about pets, here is how the convo went.... "I have a dog." "I have a cat." "I have a tarantula." " You actually keep bugs as pets?" "Ya, they are awesome!" "You have more than one?" Lol
Enn is correct. I started by babysitting a G. Rosea and as a thank you gift, he bought me my beauty of a N. Coloratovillusus and I've been hooked ever since!
I got mine from my friend, I was babysitting his G. Rosea for a little while and as a thank you he got me my Colorativillosus. The wife wasn't too happy, but she has been supportive.
