Is a 5 gallon tank too big for a brazilian black tarantula with legspan 2.5 cm?

If you have doubt then go with what you know will work :)

Is a 5 gallon tank too big for a brazilian black tarantula with legspan 2.5 cm?

Tarantulas are perfectly fine in an enclosure that is at least twice the leg span in dimensions. E.g. if I have a G.rosea with a legspan of 5 inch it will be perfectly fine in a 10x10x10.

    g. rosea

After feeding, Ts often produce more web. I call it the victory web. My T used to always excavate its hide and dig random holes, general rose behavior.

    Hello

Welcome James. Very healthy looking T you have there. If she is 5 years then it most definitely is a female as I find males reach maturity by 4 years. Also if your substrate is slightly damp in spots don't worry too much, I always try and disprove what people say about Chilean rose substrate, in...

    Hypersensitivity Reaction to Some T's??

Vulpinus looks like it is very eager to urticate hairs considering how hairy it is, likelihood is it has some pretty nasty hairs if it chucks them about willy nilly XD

    Newbie to T's, Hello Everyone.

I think you are correct with A.hentzi, the carapace gives it away for me however there are numerous Ts with coloration like this as juveniles. Considering A.hentzi is native to your area I'd go with what you said :). For Ts to be captive bred they had to have been wild caught at some point so...

    Sunlight

Depends if it is direct sunlight or not, if it is the kind of light that is clearly warm e.g. on a sunny day I'd recommend putting a book on one side of the enclosure (I do this), but if you can barely feel it you should be fine. If you're in the US chances are you will want to keep it out of...

    Newbie to T's, Hello Everyone.

I was going to say I disapprove of wild caught Ts in captivity, however I only think this if they are adults. That's a mighty fine find you have. Welcome to the forum :)

brian a newbie to keeping Ts

Welcome, healthy looking T however I wouldn't recommend misting the enclosure. If you cannot use a water bowl you could do what I do and just dampen a little patch of substrate. Sorry for pointing that out but you want to learn right :)

    Hybridization; and why it's bad.

Some kid who wants to create something no matter the means just for his own doing (or to make money which is even worse). Disgrace to the hobby, if you can even class him as a hobbyist after this.

My Pink Toe is behaving oddly..

After a male reaches maturity they don't have long to live I'm afraid to tell you. That is the most likely reason why he's acting so odd. If you haven't changed anything then his change in behavior must be this
