    Just a thought

You know, I've noticed lately that big chain pet stores are bringing in more and more exotic animals. For example, my local pet store had three baby green tree pythons ($600 each) and within one month they were all gone. Don't really think they were sold... It only hurts the animal :/ most...

    Help?

How long have you had her? The enclosure would need to attract the fly somehow to lay the eggs... if it is maggots (which they don't seem to represent any other parasite in looks) the good thing is they only eat dead flesh. Though on a non-mammal creature, I dunno how that works. There are...

    New T!

It's doing pretty well! The substrate is covered in webbing, and it eats wonderfully. I named it Splat :) I love your signature by the way, Christell! Stunning T's you've got!

    Greeting from SO CAL!

Hey there! Mantis breeding sounds awesome, they're very beautiful and until recently, I didn't know they came in so many diverse ways! You should definitely try your hand at tarantulas :)

    New T!

Good to know Enn, thanks! I just wanted to check and see if that was normal, which it sounds like it is :) I've only had terrestrial slings so far.

    Travel

I brought my T's to school once (veterinary program) and it's only about a fifteen minute drive. My arboreal T's didn't seem to mind, but my terrestrial ones did :/

    got another!!!

Big difference with the red knee before and after! I like common names. The pink toes are easy to keep track of with their fancy scientific names, but beyond that, I just get jumbled. Nice T's :)

    New T!

So I got my new Psalmopoeus pulcher (Panama blonde) about two-ish weeks ago, and I always do my research before getting a new type of T. I have the proper vertical enclosure for it, it's only about 3/8 of an inch big, and it is eating very well. However, it seems to be burrowing? Hasn't come out...

how can I keep my spider from getting too cold?

I use a space heater :/ it gets very cold where I live during winter. Heating pads can burn their feet if it's placed on the side of the enclosure. I have read about... is it called copper tape? Or something like that? I heard pretty good things about it :) may be worth looking into.

    Just thought id share

Haha that's pretty cute! I saw this spider book for kids a few weeks ago that was just released, all the scary things about spiders and how to overcome them. It was awesome, wish I had picked it up.

    Is my tarantula premolting?

Oh okay, I would kind of let it be for a week or so to adjust. Looks female from the abdomen :) Make sure your husbandry and everything is right for your T species, like enclosure size and temp/humidity.. She should have a hide, and if she lays webbing, that's good. Keep an eye on the abdomen -...

Update on my first T ...

That seems like a lot of food, but they won't eat it if they don't want it. Just make sure you remove it if the food has been in there for a day :) you might also try roaches, they've got more stuff in them than crickets do. I'm not sure what kind of T Miska is, but Mike's Basic Tarantula guide...

    Is my tarantula premolting?

My female adult rose hair has been exactly like that for about three or four months and has just recently stopped accepting food. Usually when they molt, they'll go on their backs. It could be in premolt :) How long has your T been still?
