You can always to the soap and water. And use a needle and lightly scrap or pick just a little lower where the abdomen is attached and see if you see a flap opening
My GBB wouldn't take dubia roaches when I got it. It was already an adult female the person that had it before me must not have ever gave it dubia roaches or something it eats them now. I didn't give it a choice I have a dubia roach colony and use it to feed my tarantulas so I don't have to buy...
It could take up to a week or more before it gets comfortable with its new enclosure also if you wanted the water dish you could put small pieces of gravel down in it just make sure you clean them if you get them from outside just with hot water that way it's not so deep
Not that I'm aware of unless you cut it out and attach acrylic with holes drilled in acrylic. Depending on what type of enclosure you have some sell a acrylic lid versus the screen if you look online.
Sounds like you rescued her. I bought most mine off of Craigslist and it's appalling the conditions that people keep their tarantulas in I kind of feel that I rescued the ones I got. It was mostly people that have grown bored with them and getting out of the hobby.
I have a GBB that for longest time after I got her would only eat crickets. I'm stead of Dubai's that I feed all my others. Pain in the rear having to go get special food for her. Finally I got more bull headed than her and didn't give in now she eats Dubai's just fine.
