How often you feed a sling?

Good luck with the moult Pavlos! Keep us posted on her progress. ^_^

How often you feed a sling?

Thanks for the clarification Chubbs. I guess that means my little one is probably one moult away from the juvenile stage, which is sort of a relief. Have you ever heard of any health issues or moulting issues associated with "power feeding"? I know it can shorten their life span, so should not...

How often you feed a sling?

I am just curious, until what size are they still considered a sling? Is it safe to feed say a 2'' tarantula as much as it will eat?

How often you feed a sling?

I would wait for some more keepers to offer their take on the schedule before increasing his feedings. To me he looks healthy, but I am still very new to this. I agree though that it is possible (and unhealthy) to overfeed so you really don't want to increase intake unless there is a health...

Standing over water dish after meals?

Hi everyone. This question is in regards to the baby A. chalcodes I recently found and am rehabilitating. For anyone who hasn't seen previous posts about her, she turned up in my apartment one night dehydrated and with two missing legs. She has since been with me, the dehydration is treated and...

    small T's?

I don't know much about temperament or ease of care but check out the Cyriocosmus elegans. Absolutely stunning animal and a very small species. The common name is Trinidad dwarf tiger. There are a few different dwarf species, so someone else should be able to make other recommendations. =)

Update on sling enclosure, will this be more appropriate?

Thanks so much everyone! I swear I have been mulling over tarantula keeping in my sleep all week, but I think this will at least be a much better solution. She seems to be happy for the more sheltered enclosure too. I actually got to see her eat for the first time tonight so I can finally say...

    Feeding baby rescue tarantula

Hi Chubbs! Thanks for the reply. I did actually consider that and what I am doing right now is keeping the new enclosure in the old one. I have already converted the blue one and set her up in it now, but I do still have the deli cup as back up. Let me show you how I have things arranged and I...

How often you feed a sling?

I have an A. chalcodes sling (about 1.75'') that I am currently working with and was advised by other keepers that it is alright to feed them a bit more than you would feed adults. Not a ton, just slightly more frequent feedings. What is your reason for looking into feeding more, does it look...

Just posted an update thread for input on the new enclosure. :)

Hey Chubbs, I was hoping if you had a moment you could give me some feedback on the new container I set up for the baby tarantula you were advising me on the other day. I had some things come up and delay the switch, but she is officially in her new enclosure now and I am pretty certain I even...

Update on sling enclosure, will this be more appropriate?

Hi everyone! I just finished setting up a new enclosure for the litte A. chalcodes sling I rescued recently. Some members here advised that the old enclosure was too big, so I am hoping to get some feedback on the new set up. Will this be an appropriate size? I have placed it inside the old...

    Feeding baby rescue tarantula

Ok so I went out and looked all around today and found a couple of possible smaller enclosures. Would either one of these be acceptable? I would really like to go with the one with the blue lid instead of the deli cup if possible since it will be much less likely to tip. Is that one an...

    Feeding baby rescue tarantula

I see, in that case I guess I could use some help with what signs of settling in tarantulas exhibit. How exactly can I tell if he/she is relaxed or if the size is freaking her out (I am just going to say her for simplicity). She uses the small hide in there, but doesn't stay in there constantly...

    Feeding baby rescue tarantula

Just wanted to add that I have read that finding prey is sometimes an issue with larger areas. It would appear that he had eaten a second cricket now. The crickets don't burrow do they?
