Where exactly is it that out of the two of us I am "clearly wrong in parts"? It is not a matter of opinion that I am 100% correct, it's a fact. No matter how I went about pointing it out, you weren't clear, and I said as much. That's all any of this, for me, was about. There is no dispute there...
No it doesn't, and I didn't pick anything out. I took exactly what you said at face value from a single, and at the time most recent, post, and responded directly to it. Plain and simple. You weren't specific, and it came across as you being grossly negligent in favor of your own entertainment...
Ask anybody that has considerable experience keeping tarantulas, they will all warn you that even a short fall can seriously injure the animal. Either by personal experience or knowing someone that it happened to. If they fall on something like a water dish or anything hard or with an edge to...
If you would like to avoid people taking exactly what you say in your own words the wrong way, then yes, you should probably elaborate in the future. Or, at the very least, not say half-assed, incorrect things and then just expect it to be obvious you didn't mean exactly what you, in fact, said...
Also this:
If your tarantula has a 4" legspan then you are talking an 8" fall going by that horrible information. A tarantula of that size can be injured severely from a fall of even half that height. Please stop getting your information from wherever you heard that.
Just like how you can easily take my comment a certain way, your comment of "And its in my living room so rather stair at a tree stump all day than a plastic pot which would be all I have to replace it with." with no other clarifying remarks or elaboration is easily taken as "I'd rather have...
So sorry! haha
I definitely am/will/ I wonder if he's just getting ready to molt perhaps. Here is a pic of him:
His abdomen is darker about halfway through the length of it compared to the brown color on the half towards the carapace. That's why I'm assuming he may be in pre-molt. I just...
I just picked up a ~2" albo at the recent reptile expo here. He likes to burrow himself in his hide, blocking the entrance with substrate. I thought this species generally spent their time out in the open but going by this thread I am guessing they burrow when they are smaller/younger?
By the...
If you provide it, they will climb.
Yes, because your entertainment is more important than the safety of the tarantula. It's your choice of course but I wouldn't expect sympathy from anyone if she falls and gets hurt or dies.
Sorry I didn't check back here in a while. I ended up putting her in a Sterilite container instead. The amount of space from the floor to the ceiling in the Exo was too high for her, she fell a couple of times and it scared the crap out of me. I don't know what I'll use the Exo-Terra for now...
Just wanted to get some opinions on the enclosure I have waiting for the E. sp. Red on her way to me. This is my first T and, as such, I would rather ask than assume. It's an Exo Terra 8x8x8 enclosure. According to my research that should be fine for her (seller description is 2"-2 1/2").
