Little update: tried feeding them yesterday after one week of having them, and they ended up flipping and going into molt. I had to fish two crickets out and try not to disturb them too much as I was doing it. Some of the worst timing I've had so far owning a T, lol.
Snagged this guy from a local convention at the last minute after debating if I should grab anything. For $30 I really couldn't pass'em up! I've been doubting if I could properly raise one of these guys even after doing lots of research on them, but the vendors assured me they're hardy and not...
She's very pretty! I rehoused mine into a slightly larger enclosure so they could dig a bit and hide, and so far they've done just that! I'm expecting a molt at some point, given how large they're abdomen is. It's very cool to watch them work.
It looks like OP has flower pot fungus, and if that's the case, I don't believe springtails will eat that type of mold. It shouldn't pose any harm to the T, imo, but if it gets outta hand they'll have to clean it out.
Agreed! They had another on the shelf that I think got bought before I could get to it, but it was a nice pale red color with the white markings. I see why they're so popular.
The curly hair got out while we were out at dinner. Was checking the enclosure I used for it and there's a small gap at the top where the cover slides off, and I think it was big enough for it to slip through. Really bummed. Lesson learned, I guess.
Been using the heater for a bit and I think it'll be perfect. It doesn't take incredibly long to heat up, and so far it's working as it should. At the moment, it's a definite recommendation.
Package was delayed by a day, but luckily they all arrived alive and healthy. Same with the feeders. Packaging was great and I had zero issues getting into anything. Couldn't get them to eat, but they seemed to be settling in a bit before I left for work. They're adorable.
Yes they're named...
Agreed, it has the better reviews across Amazon, Lowe's and Home Depot compared to the others I was looking at. The price kind of stung, but it is what it is. After I use it for a bit, I'll come back and update this thread with the pros and cons.
