Meet Kriemhild, my first tarantula! (B. albiceps)

For now, I'm just happy that's she's eating haha. Even with a tiny live meal worm, she would not leave her hide. I'll keep trying live first, then pre-killed if she doesn't respond. From what I've read, meal worms seem more convenient for me to keep, but I'll try crickets at a later time so she...

Meet Kriemhild, my first tarantula! (B. albiceps)

Kriemhild finally ate! I left her a pre-killed meal worm overnight, and I found her with it today! I guess she was too scared to hunt. She seems pretty skittish. I'm happy to see her out and enjoying a meal. Here's a pic I took the other day. She ran to the top of her hide after I accidentally...

Meet Kriemhild, my first tarantula! (B. albiceps)

I've heard that tarantulas can go a long time without eating, but this advice does reassure me I don't have to worry about her starving any time soon haha. Thanks

Meet Kriemhild, my first tarantula! (B. albiceps)

Thanks y'all, she's a real cutie and I'm happy to have her. I spotted her out of her hide today! It's good to confirm she's still alive haha. She spends most of her time hiding. Looks like she's moved the moss around the enclosure, though. Tried feeding her two different sizes of meal worms...

Meet Kriemhild, my first tarantula! (B. albiceps)

Done! The lower levels of substrate are also damper than the top. I haven't seen her burrowing yet, though. I caught her out in the open today, but she ran back to her hide before I could get a good picture. I'm glad she feels safe there at least! :)

Meet Kriemhild, my first tarantula! (B. albiceps)

I hope she likes it! I did add a little more substrate in case she fell trying to climb the walls. She's spent most of her time since she moved in hiding in the dark. I just can't believe how small she is! I'll try giving her a meal worm in a few days.

Meet Kriemhild, my first tarantula! (B. albiceps)

She's so tiny! Just chilling in her hide right now. She is a little smaller than I expected...Y'all think I should switch her to a smaller enclosure, or does this one look okay? My first time buying a spider was certainly an adventure. There was a delay in shipping, so the seller offered me a...

    Freebie?

You're right of course- I got over my apprehension and sent an email. I was only planning to get one tarantula, but I'm excited to watch the little sling grow!

    Freebie?

Thanks for the advice! I messaged him earlier about a potential weather-related shipping issue and he was understanding, but I wasn't sure I wanted to bother him again. I mean, it seems like bad form to question a free gift haha. But I'll ask so I at least know what I'm in for!

    Freebie?

How exciting! I'll have to prepare a little enclosure. Hopefully it's a new world species that's easy to care for... I don't know if I could handle an old world!

    Freebie?

So I decided to get a 2in Brachypelma albiceps as my first tarantula. My order from 03Arachnids has unfortunately been delayed to next week, but it will apparently include a freebie for the inconvenience. I've seen reviews where people say they got slings as freebies... Does this mean I'm...

    Hello!

Hi, everyone. Social distancing has got me looking at tarantula content, and I've finally decided to get my own. I'm currently on the hunt for a female B. albiceps as my first tarantula. I have read that they are easy to take care of, and I think they're super cute! I don't know how long it will...
