Am I safe to assume my new Adult GBB is a female if she is 5.5" and no tibial hooks or emboli? I got her yesterday and measured her when she was on the side of the enclosure exploring and her legspan is definitely around 5.5" with absolutely vibrant colouration.
Thanks guys.
My T. Apophysis has decided its time to molt and this one I'm rather nervous about. I've kept the waterbowl full and the substrate is the appropriate level of damp at the bottom. But as it's a theraphosa I'm a little bit nervous about this! Does anyone else get super anxious when their...
The holes are less than 4mm the spider's body is definitely bigger than that. I also made sure I filed and shaved down all the sharp edges of the holes and double and triple checked with my fingers just in case.
Rehousing into the enclosure went great. No bolting or defense poses... yet. Thank...
Hi everyone does this homemade enclosure look appropriate for a 1.7" arboreal sling? It's a food container that I drilled holes into for extra ventilation. I've got other ones ready just in case but I'm curious if this would be suitable at all.
Thanks guys.
Oh and it's a singapore blue...
She is perfectly fine. I'm not sure what she's doing with the molt. It's been pushed into a corner. But all 8 legs, pedipalps and fangs are all intact! So glad for that. Now I'm just waiting for her to harden up because she needs to be rehoused now.
My A. Genic molted while we were asleep last night and I'm freaking out!! she's out of her molt and I can see her moving about slowly. This is my first ever molting experience with a tarantula. Any advice would be great! I already know not to disturb, not to feed and to keep the water filled...
So my L. Klugi has completely closed off the entrance to her burrow. She was wandering about last night so I threw a cricket in there as she was out and about wandering. But when I woke up this morning she had completely closed off the burrow with substrate. I know this is a huuuuge sign of...
My T apophysis has put on alot of weight since I got him a few days ago. I fed him 2 medium sized crickets but his butt is huuuge compared to when he first showed up. Is this a sign of premolt or is he just fat?
Hi everyone.
So my new sub adult lasiodora klugi has burrowed down to the bottom of her hide. The enclosure Is a little bit too big for her at the moment I think but lots of people have told me she needs a larger enclosure because she will get HUGE the enclosure is an old storage box that I...
Thank you so much for your reply. It was honestly just unexpected in a beginners box. And she(?) Was quite. Sprinter when trying to house her. Very stroppy. I usually let my son watch me home my tarantulas with my wife holding him but with this one I didn't quite want to take the risk as there...
Thank you! I actually was not expecting a theraphosa at all! I have the T in a larger enclosure for its size with damper substrate as it is a moisture dependent species. And they tend to roam alot. It has air vents around all 4 sides of the enclosure so I'll make sure to keep the sub a bit more...
Hi all.
So I ordered a beginner box as I wanted more spiders and my wife wanted one too. The one I bought was specifically beginner but one of the Ts was a rather large Juvie theraphosa apophysis and I'm pretty sure they are definitely not a beginner species. I have no quams about keeping the T...
My A. Genic doesn't leave any food left over... like at all. I noticed a cricket leg left over and when I went back to take it out it was gone. Just gone. No sign of any of the crickets that I feed her
It honestly doesn't bother me at all. I was just wondering if it bothered other people. I've gotten everything from "disgusting" to "ill never enter your house again" which I find funny because they have 3 chihuahuas and those are not pretty dogs.
