I caught a tigrosa aspera a few weeks ago and have kept her. Today I cam home to her laying eggs and watched her finish her egg sack. I want to keep her. How can I raise and release the babies?

I agree with obt as well but soon as they hatch the mother does carry them on her back as she is the one that cares for them, soon as they are hatched I would release both mother and babies,

I would certainly keep a few slings for yourself. Be careful though. Wolf spiders were my gateway drug to the true spiders. ;)

There are so many fascinating variety of trues that I actually find them more interesting now than my T's (Please don't boot me for saying that outloud).

Can you get pinhead crickets? If so, that should do the trick. Wingless fruit Flies are another choice but they are a PITA for me. Won't take long before you can go with small crickets and small meal worms. Just fed my Hogan helluo a wax worm today. :T:

She keeps raising the egg sack toward her vents. I hope the babies come soon. Its been 33 days.
My babies hatch after 42 days. I kept two of the slings. They seem like they're growing but I haven't seen any molting yet. I'm wondering if you can tell the sex as spiderlings. From what I have read the males only have been doing on the third and fourth pair of legs. It looks like so far that these two little fellers have banding on all legs. Does anyone have any information or an opinion you would like to share?

Very neat. My Dolomedes tenebrosus recently had babies as well. My partner found her on a job a couple months ago and brought her home for me. Some men buy their women flowers, mine brings me creepy crawly things. It's love. <3 Anyway, she guarded the sac underneath her for about three weeks or so, then wove it in a nursery web to a stick inside her enclosure. The babies hatched not too long after, and I released them all in my garden. It was pretty neat.
