Actually the best way to preserve that species is to bring it into the hobby and breed it worldwide, but that would make to much sense!!

Thanks for posting the link. I had a Carolina wolf spider at one time. She would always tear her egg sac open too early.

I'm not a breeder, but isn't that why you pull the sac yourself as soon as they get done with it & put it into some kind of incubator or something like that?

I'm not either, and didn't want to be. You see... I found it in a warehouse and saved it from being killed. I kept it through the winter and released her in the spring. It was sad to see the sacs destroyed, but I really didn't know that they did those things, and what's involved with breeding. Besides, If my landlord found me breeding wolf spiders I'D be the one who needed rescuing!! LOL

Not with wolf spiders they incubate it themselves. They carry the babies on their backs.

I did see pictures of that. She carried the sac with her at all times, too. Even when feeding!

The species I keep, Rustic wolf spider, doesn’t feed when they have the egg sac. They will drink still though.

I have six of them currently. They are only 1 inch dls as adults but they are still really fun to keep. One of my females I had made 3 infertile egg sacs when I had her. I never knew why. She was a feisty eater so I was afraid to pair her with my male who I still have, even though she seemed to want to breed.

As soon as I saw this story I thought of you lol always nice to be kept updated with your wolf spiders I find them very interestingim sure others do to...
