I'm really worried about my male GBB tarantula. I've only had him for maybe around 8 months. He was sold to me as a female but after his last molt I knew he was male because of his bulbous pedipalps and the tibial hooks. At first he was a great eater but now he's been refusing food for quite awhile. I know or at least think (this is my first male tarantula, I've only had females) that male tarantulas tend to start to eat less when they mature and may have smaller abdomens but his is getting small to the point where I am worried. He is obviously not about to molt because his abdomen almost looked shriveled. I put him in a homemade tarantula ICU thinking he was dehydrated. I left him in there for about a day and then returned him to his home but it did nothing. I don't know what else to do, I don't want him to die. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I don't know if you can tell how bad it looks that well in the photos.

@Chelcie Forrester .. Hi .. I've not been keeping T's long myself just under a yr. but from what your saying his already had his ultimate moult so he probably won't eat now. My male H.Incei is the same. I think you might be better off sending him out on a breeding loan. I'm unsure how long a male gbb will live for after his ultimate moult but he is coming to the end of his life cycle I'm sorry to say :-(
I hope I could be wrong ..

At an inch and a half it wouldn't have adult colors...

There r a couple different ways to measure tarantulas, diagonal legs span, straight across leg span, and body length. these r the generally use measurements. sometimes if r asking a question about a certain size spider you just need to know how to measure the size. individual leg span will not be useful. ...just for the future. also @spidey noob calm down u are scaring the newb fish! lmao lmao
