Pre-molt questions!

Hi!

My brachypelma hamorii has been in pre-molt for almost two months. She has molted two times with me, and on both times she molted pretty quickly after the first 'symptoms'. She's my first T, so I just want to know that is this normal?

And I'm sure she's in pre-molt because she's hiding all the time, moving less, not eating and her abdomen is dark and shiny.

The older Brachypelma get the longer they stay in premolt, sometimes not always. Also if you overfeed them they sometimes will stay in premolt longer until they are ready to molt. With over feeding, they only grow so fast so they have to wait until the new exoskeleton is ready. Just make sure it has fresh water.

Good advice @Hemolymph with the brachys its always a worry as everything is at a slow rate!

@Hemolymph nailed it. Ive had B. hamorii in premolt anywhere from a couple weeks to almost a year. The trade off for your patience is huge...you'll likely have your hamorii 20-30 years.
