Hey everyone, my name is Shelbi. I just recently purchased my first 2 tarantulas. My first one is a Tliltocatl albopilosus. I'm not sure of the sex yet as i have not seen a molt yet, and the pet store I got it from couldn't tell me if it had molted yet. My second is a mature male A. Avicularia. I have always wanted to have tarantulas but am just now able to be able to get them. I plan to get more eventually as well. I'm just here to get advice and see other tarantulas and just make sure I'm doing my best to keep my tarantulas happy and healthy.

Hi and welcome! Those were my first two tarantulas as well, though mine are both still slings.
Yeah I think I'll try to get a sling the next one I get cause I'm not sure with my curly if it's matured and female or not mature and possibly male. I've been trying to find ways online to find out but everything says wait for a molt.

Hi Shelbi! Welcome. I'm new to the forum as well. I'd definitely recommend a sling next. They are rewarding to raise. If you don't already know, if you ever find your T on its back and barely wiggling its legs, it's in the middle of molting. Let it do its thing and don't put it on its belly. It should finish within an hour (if a sling) or several hours (if adult, it could need more than 2-3 hours but hopefully not more).

My recommendations for slings are most new world terrestrial tarantulas... Brachypelmas and Grammostola. Just know that G. rosea are slow growers. And B. boehmi can be skittish. G. pulchra are expensive ($40 is a really good price for retail but likely $60+) but hardy and stunning. B. hamorii are adorable, and generally good natured as adults.

Thank you for your advice. I'll definitely look into those when I go to pick out my next one.
