A few days or 3 seems normal. I’d just make sure they have access to water nearby and wait another day, if you’re still really concerned you could try to gently poke their toe with a soft end of a paintbrush to prod them out of their spot. But personally I’d just leave them be.
As title reads.. My Aphonopelma chalcodes hasn’t eaten in over a year. It’s been probably a year and a half at this point.
I have tried superworms, mealworms, dubia roaches. She simply swats them away and refuses to eat. I know this species can be like this, so I wouldn’t be (and previously was...
I was on the same boat as you. Always scared, always hated tiny little house spiders but once you make them 100x larger and fluffy they were suddenly adorable to me.
My first was an Aphonopelma Chalcodes and like the commenter above said, I totally recommend them too. Personally, mine is...
So.. I have a few questions and also I’d love to hear from more opinions/tips from experienced Avic keepers.
I picked up my first itty bitty Purpurea sling on Sunday 9/12 at a local reptile expo in town from a great tarantula vendor. I was unbelievably excited for this one and snagged at a...

Dropped prekilled prey in for my Pumpkin Patch at 4:30, it wasn’t interested. Checked back in at 6:00 and it was already flipped over on its molt. That was fast
Was surprised this morning by a little white thing moving in my deli cup
Took a closer look and my Nhandu Chromatus is looking like a tiny ghost spider
Munching away on a chopped mealworm segment after a recent molt.
She webs a ton and has some eaten prey wrapped up (See top left)
Would you guys go ahead and remove the prey/webbing in the process?
I almost feel bad because her webbing look so cool!
A. chalcodes first meal with me! Didn’t think she would eat as she’s been camping out in her burrow but it was a nice surprise
Also question: Trying to understand portion sizes.. if a feeder is slightly on the smaller side, like this mealworm, would you feed them seconds when they finish the...
