Widows

Finally found a Northern Widow for the collection. I now have all five U.S. species:

Latrodectus hesperus - Western Black Widow
Latrodectus geometricus - Brown Widow
Latrodectus bishopi - Red Widow
Latrodectus mactans - Southern Widow
Latrodectus variolus - Northern Black Widow

They are incredibly fascinating spiders and are really easy to keep. Only negative is the number of sacs that they drop.

Nice! Yeah the whole constant sac dropping and lack of demand for the slings makes me hesitant.

I do not rear them. Too dangerous. So, the sacs, unfortunately, go right into the freezer

Just pulled another one out of my mactans enclosure. She was NOT happy this time

Were did you get your Latrodectus? I have the L. mactans but I'm looking for the other four. Swift's isn't offering Widows right now. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Got them from a variety of different suppliers. PM me if you want a listing. But not optimistic you can get them now until Spring unfortunately.
