A few months ago, while I was out, my son heard a scratching noise and on investigating fund my l. parahybana with four feet out of a gap in the door of her container. Luckily I keep a wedge in her doors so she hadn't been able to push the door further open. Using a brush he got her legs back inside and closed the door properly. After he told me about her attempt at escape I added a second wedge.
A few days ago I too heard a noise but thought at first it was my Hognose snake on the shelf below the LP who often makes a similar sound when he's digging. Then I noticed the LP had 2 feet and a fang round the edge of the door. Again I used the brush to move her and realised there was a small bit of substrate stopping the door closing completely so that was removed and door shut.
Tonight she was at it again although she hadn't managed to get a foot through but she was having a good try. Then she went to the other door and tried that but now she's back at the first door.
Talk about determination, she's one determined lady.

Believe our T buddies don't get the credit they deserve when it comes to mental acuity! Think they definitely have the ability to learn. Your LP provides us with an example. Don't think it was just coincidence. Don't know if we could ever teach one to fetch though! Lol!

I was doing a bit of maintenance with Rescue Rita (Grammastola Iheringi) other day but i was worried about clicking the lock on her “heavy” glass door because her feet were right up by the frame. So i thought I’ll do that after i make a cup of tea. But i forgot . 2 hours later I wandered in, the door’s wide open and Rita has made it to one of my sandals and is setting up home. I learned my lesson, thank goodness it wasn’t someone with a less friendly disposition.
