I still have not purchased my tarantula and have been looking into buying one online. I was wondering if there is a certain season I should purchase them to ensure it arrives alive. Im looking into a palomino blonde, and dont know if I should wait for spring to come buy, or if I can buy it anytime. Any help would be appreciated greatly! Thanks.

Live arrival guaranteed comes with Over night shipping on all the major online dealers but if your going with 2 days shipping and want to save money then ya wait until it's good temps for shipping

Great! I am still looking around my local pet stores to see if any do sell Ts. Hopefully I can a store that sells them because I dont want to put the tarantula through any stress on the way over. If I dont find a pet store, getting some recommendations would be very helpful. Thanks!

Order online. Pet stores usually don't take very good care of their tarantulas. Order from a breeder who actually knows what they're doing.

Also pet shops have WC spiders a lot of the time. hard to say what u r getting. A good breeder will be more specific. I bought from jamiestarantulas.com. Great experience. even when i got a doa because of delays in the middle of winter from a big snow storm.

The vast majority of "high street“ pet shops just stock rose hair and red knee, staff not always having enough knowledge or experience of the animals. Many of the spiders I've seen have been adult or close to maturity and unsexed so a male could be close to the end of its life even if you get a female that could live over 20 years if its wild caught there's no knowledge of how old it is, and then there's every possibility it's pregnant which isn't necessarily an issue but having 1 tarantula suddenly have 200 babies running around the enclosure might be a bit overwhelming for the average novice keeper.
Go to a specialist like tarantulas bristol or the spider shop just to name a couple.
They both have fantastic websites, esp the spider shop, Every animal you click on they give you a good description in-depth care needs It's clear they put a lot of effort in their website.
These specialists breed most of the animals in captivity themselves so they know exactly where they came from, They always happily answer your questions and give advice on the care of your spider .
There will always be a massive range of species available at reasonable prices of all ages from baby slings up to mature fully grown adults and everything else in between although stock levels and Availability are constantly changing you can set up email alerts to inform of new in special offers. Some places also sell other inverts like scorpions, Praying mantids etc, I've got some assassin bugs on order from Portsmouth tarantulas !!
As for delivery methods all livestock is sent special delivery next day guaranteed delivery.
The spider will be well protected and cushioned in cotton wool or tissue in a small secure pot. Placed in a well secured cardboard box filled polystyrene packing peanuts and if needed in the colder months a disposable heat pack. Box is clearly marked as fragile. They successfully mail 1000's of animals every month and have their delivery methods perfected Having an animal die in delivery is a rarity I suggest you watch some unboxing videos on youtube and you'll see how carefully they're mailed.
Hope this helps you

I wouldn`t advise anyone to use Tarantula Bristol.

I thought they were one of the better ones across the pond?

They used to be but there have been a lot of reports of things going wrong with orders and accusations from them about other sellers doing them down through spite. I think they are trying to put things right now but I'd still be wary of using them.

Elias Insen sold me my L Klugi online. The spider was perfect when it arrived and I totally recommend him.

Vendors are reviewed elsewhere on this forum. Most are pretty good.
