My avic sling is shying away from tong fed food. Have tried a mealworm and a cricket. She grabbed a cricket straightaway last week . Should I just leave one in there. I know not to leave it overnight

Be careful tong feeding, Ts can damage their fangs on the tongs. I feed all my arboreal slings by just dropping the food in, You can leave the food overnight as long as it's not in premoult.

If you leave a mealworm for any period of time then I highly recommend that you cut the head off or it will burrow into the substrate.

I feed all my slings on crickets and leave them no more than 24 hours. Often if they haven't eaten by then I will just squash the head so they can't do any harm.

Generally, adult Avics, or any arboreals, are in no danger from crickets. You could probably go 48-72 hrs before removing it, as long as the spider is not in premolt. Striking at the prey and slapping it without taking it is a rejection, you should remove it immediately.

A cricket can't run up the glass. An Avic can. I've tong fed my C versicolor, but lately he's just been getting annoyed by it instead of grabbing it. Tossing in 1 or 2 crickets and letting nature take is course is best.
