Tarantula has
dug around quite a bit, and there's a spot with only a little bit of substrate left. If it digs it, it could very well land on the Tarantula.

Should I be concerned about the way this is dug or is it smart enough to not crush itself?

Not a concern since cork bark is very light. If you are nervous about it, re-position the bark.
