I was thinking about getting some sea inverts such as anemones, but I don't want to dump a lot into it at first, just a small tank with one or two.

Anyone keep some? Looking for advice.

I used to have a 2 saltwater tanks, one 20 gal and one 40 gal years and years ago. I didn't raise anything but fish. I remember the tanks were a bit of a chore to get setup right with the saline content and ph balance and whatnot, but once you get that it was simple like a freshwater tank. The saltwater tanks have so many more options for vibrant colored fish and creatures. and if you get the anemones you'll need the clown fish also ;) then the blue tang, etc.

I would actually argue that there are just as many, if not more freshwater fish species available in the hobby. ;)
