Overcoming crippling arachnophobia.

Hello, I’m still working on completely overcoming my rather crippling arachnophobia. The only companion I had during the height of the pandemic was a small adanson’s house spider and I fell in love with the little critter who kept me company through the loneliest time in my life.
To overcome my fear I’ve jumped head first in to this hobby and got an Eresus walckenaeri and soon after an Acanthoscurria geniculata. I’m still very new to this hobby and where I live, Japan, this is a rare hobby so there isn’t much of anything I can buy for the arachnids, most resources I can get are originally for lizards or beetles.
If it’s okay I’d love to get some help, advice and insight on how to care for my new pets.

Hello and welcome. :)
Many of us have suffered arachnophobia in the past so there is hope. Don't be afraid to ask questions, there are plenty people here to help you.

Welcome and hello.
You found a great place for support and for learning about tarantulas.

Please feel free to post pictures of your spiders if you can. And it might be good to post some photos of their enclosures, as while tarantulas are fairly easy to keep, there are some necessities and good practices that will help them thrive.

I’m a bit nervous about posting pictures. I know how woefully lacking their enclosures are. I’m out shopping for substrate as I type this but it’s a bit difficult to find the right ones, what with the language gap in Japan I got the tarantula a few days ago so she’s still a bit iffy with her new enclosure ( probably because of how bad it is)

Hello and welcome to the hobby. You need to put more substrate in the first spider home, a hide and a water dish. Those are the basic items.

The above link might help with your ladybird spider

This link will help you with your Acanthoscurria geniculata.

Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.
I’ve put a water dish in the Acanthoscurria geniculata’s enclosure, and thank you so much for the links!

Ohhh I found this dude’s channel today coincidentally and have been listening to him al day! Wish I’d found it before getting mixed up with the Brazilian white knee and Brazilian black.

Welcome. I would like to see jumping spiders that can catch teens on dirt bikes. The white knee is great spider. Keep water dish in there and use Coir as substrate or one of the peat based ones for reptiles.
I’ll look those up! So the substrate used for reptiles also works?! That’s great news. How about the one used for beetles?
