Before I say why. How would members here consider this as a sensible postage method for a T?

Take one 16 oz deli cup.

Fill it with around an inch of substrate & then simply pop the T inside this & then place the deli cup in an insulated postage box complete with a heat pad.

Would you expect above packaged T to arrive safe & well? And would you expect a heat pad to add to the well being of the T when packed inside an insulated box on one of the hottest days so far this year?

The reason I ask is my wife had a T arrive dead in the post this morning & it was packed as above. I will not say who sent it. But it was not any of the well known dealers. We have never seen a T sent through the post like this before & have ordered from a number of different suppliers, both in the UK & Europe.

When I pack mine I put dampened paper towels on the bottom, then make a ring of paper towels around the tub, then a final dampened paper towel on the top before the lid goes on.
You want to make sure the T is snug, (but not squished in), you want to make sure that if the pot is jostled in transit, the T doesn't have too much room to bounce around.

I agree but the main thing is no heat pad, poor thing must have cooked.

Every tarantula I've ever received via mail has been in a container with the inside wrapped in paper towels. From the tiny slings in their little microcentrifuge vials to the big ones in large deli cups. Anything loose in there is just turning your container into a maraca.

What has held the containers in place has varied, but the container is always held secure with something. I've never had a heat pack, but I've never ordered anything in cold weather. Some places won't even ship under a certain temperature threshold.
