Hello everyone, from Vancouver, BC, Canada! I have been fascinated by tarantulas for several years and finally acquired my first one from an enthusiast who was looking to regime a juvenile male Davus sp oaxaca. I researched enclosures and care tips, and am now enjoying "Tiggy" and his adventures. He's a little skittish, and the second night with me he tried to escape through a small hole in the top of the enclosure: he got his head, carapace and legs through it (it seemed like such a small hole!) but thankfully his abdomen was too large and he was stuck. I discovered him waving his legs at me so I was able to carefully free him into my cupped hand and guide him back down onto the substrate of the enclosure. The hole has since been sealed, and he has now built himself a kind of fort, digging into the coir and pulling bits of peat over the opening to this cubbyhole. He's been hiding out there for a few days, so methinks he will be moulting soon. Here's a somewhat poor picture of him taken at night with a flashlight to illuminate.
I am looking forward to reading a variety topics and comments and learning a lot more about tarantulas!

Thank you! The first is the biggest step, and then it's a matter of "when" not "if" I will adopt others :T:
Careful, over six years ago I had three. Last count I am still hovering around the century mark including the scorpion and one true spider; Heterapoda sp David Bowie!! Surprised it didn't happen sooner!! Lol, lol.. Happy Spoodering

Welcome aboard.
I'm just back myself, fantastic community here and great advice.

Hobby for life this, at most I had over 1000, due to breeding, right now I'm down at 23 inverts 18 of which are Tarantulas after having a couple years tarantula free due to me working away from home and not having the time.

Thanks! I've been admiring pics & videos of Grammostola pulchra but would do more research and ensure that my potential second T is from an ethical source and has grown up happy so far. Right now my first little guy is hiding out in a self-made cave and being very sedentary. I'll get to witness a T moult for the first time!
Pulchra are a pretty hardy species, they are forgiving of husbandry mistakes, they are not the fastest growing T's too so you have plenty of time to learn.
