Hello,

We acquired this tarantula as a spidering about 7 years ago. It was donated to us as a Chilean rose hair tarantula. We don't think it is this species and are wondering if it could be a Chilean dwarf flame tarantula. Picture is taken on 1 cm square graph paper for size reference. Any help with ID would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kristina

And at this age I would have to believe it is female.

Also officially it is now called H. Chilense. Last year the name was updated ( not changed) to reflect neutral form of the Latin name. A gender change in the name is not considered a name change.

As I understand it, the gender of the species has to match the gender of the genus. In this case Homoeomma is neutral while Chilensis is male and female. Chilense is neutral.

Nerd over and out.
