No need to worry, we're all just weird in our own special way. As for your tarantula's age and gender, I'm no expert and I generally confirm their sex by their molts.

Your putting too much trust into the store that just wanted to sell a spider. They wouldn't be able to tell you what sex your spider is. It's a 50/50 guess unless you have the trained eye of a professional or a molt. With the photo you posted a trained professional wouldn't be able to sex it.
