I would like to grow some of these in my P. metallica enclosure.

i'm not a mycologist so i have no idea. Rule of thumb is to get rid of mushrooms, so in my very limited experience i'd say no.

I don't think I would try it. any fungus in my stuff scares me, but I wouldn't experiment in a p. metallica enclosure...pretty expensive to replace.

IMHO, I think most all Ts like it a dryer than what would be good for mushrooms. I have a poison dart frog viv and mushrooms are welcome as they are "eating" up decaying matter.
I would buy a glass container with a lid and plant the mushrooms there. Water and cover treating it like a terrarium, leaving the Ts to their "deserty" environment.
