Good evening everyone,

My name is Mikey. I'm 24, in University (CJ major), and I plan to eventually move from Tennessee to Wisconsin once my life at home is resolved. I'm currently a caregiver and I plan to stay with my grandmother while I study at home.

I'm a newbie to the scene, as I'll be receiving my first two slings on Wednesday! I'm excited. I've already named them Loid (curly) and Hyde (redknee.) I'm a university student so I felt these companions would be best for me. Additionally I'm not very fond of directly handling animals, so its a double positive for me since they don't necessarily want to be handled directly either. Love me a pet rock with 8 legs.

I hope to meet and speak to you all, feel free to reach out if you'd like to be friends!

Mikey

Welcome to the hobby. :)
Be warned it's very addictive.
I've already figured that out! When I was buying the Redknee, I initially told myself I would only get one, there was a option for a freebie curly and at that point I was like "why not", went and bought some extra supplies from Amazon and now I want a few more, at least from the breeds I've researched on, that Wishlist number may grow. But I'm taking this slow. I've got lots to learn.

That's the way it goes, I was only getting one but ended up with 100 at one point.

Hi! Welcome to a whole new world! You picked one of my favorites. The Brachy (red knee) is a striking looking T and so relaxed. This is the best new keeper T IMO. Any questions or problems we are here for you!

I’m at 19… and I have three slings arriving today… I have to calm down. The slings were to keep me busy over the winter so I don’t get any more. That will be seven slings which is utterly enough for anyone. Plus a couple of rehousings. And 2 in pre-molt.

Hi Mikey!
I currently have 3 adult curlys and they are some of my favorites! Funny enough, each one has a different personality. Angel and Azazel are pretty much hair kickers and like to enjoy their burrows. They will randomly be at attention when they want food. I then have Banshee who is my little bulldozer. She loves to move substrate around and be out in the open. Reminds me of a little dung beetle. Super great species!
I also have two Red knees, one is a more mature sling sporting a tad bit of color now (Cordelia). She’s a little feisty teleporter. Always out in the open and is super interesting to watch. Then I have my PITA, Salem (I think everyone might eventually have a Salem). I got her as a sub adult. When I got her, she clearly must have lost more than one limb. She was sporting a thin leg, so I knew one of them must have regrew and she has one that is still missing. She’s a PITA only because she seems to be a finicky eater and it’s been months of me waiting to see if she will get her other limb back. Still waiting. Otherwise she’s a complete sweetheart and always on on display.
I definitely wish you luck in the hobby since it is quite addictive. Especially with the species that you have gotten, they are slower growers. therefore their molting process and them to get to maturity is going to take some good years. I fell into the category of wanting a variety of slings juveniles, and some adults. That is how I am now at 50+ a short span of time. It doesn’t help that they take up limited space and I have a whole house. Lol happy husbandry to you!
