Hi, I am new to T's, and new on this forum. My husband and I ended up with a female Chilean Rose from a friend that was moving. I am very quickly trying to get up to speed on this, but there is so much to learn! We keep snakes and lizards, so this is new territory - but very interesting territory. I just hope to keep Evelyn happy and healthy, and this forum has been a great help to me already!

Welcome to the forum and the hobby, you will find the hobby very addicting.

As for tarantulas themselves, they are probably the easiest pets you will probably ever raise. The G. porteri is probably the easiest of them all. Deep, dry substrate with a water dish and a hide is all that is necessary. They are also sporadic eaters, in other words they may eat one week and won't the next three.
