I already posted on an other forum, but I'd like to know what are you suggesting here
I own a GBB since 3 months, she molted in my care only once, that was the next day I received her. She's around 2,5/3cm legspan. I am keeping her in a dry substrate, 68°F at night and 75/77°F during day.
She didn't wanted to eat since 70 days now, which suggest that she's preparing for a molt. She was a bit fatty when she stopped to eat tho (so she maybe just don't need to eat until next molt).
But here, since yesterday, she's been drinking a lot, and sitting litteraly onto the water in the water dish.
She goes in the water dish, sit in there for 10/30 minuts, goes out, rub herself on the substrate (maybe to remove the exess water on the chelicera ?), then goes again in the water. It's been 20 hours she's doing that. Remember that's a C. Cyaneopubescens sling, that do not require a hight moisture.
Here few pictures (I placed a bigger water dish near to this one as she was a bit cramped in here, but I can't replace the old one yet, as she does not want to leave it)
From what I've read on internet, that can be a normal behaviour, or it can also suggest a molt, which would explain why she suddenly need a highter moisture (I keep her dry with a slighty overflowed water dish). I've noticed, instead of hiding in her hide, she've been spending a lot of time on the walls of her enclosure (when she's not in the water dish, she use to get here)
But I am curious, since she used to spend most of her time in her hide.
A. She's spending time here to help shreding the old exosqueletton ?
B. Tarantula doing tarantula things ?
C. Lack of humidity ?
D. The answer D ?
