I hope this message soothes you down.
Let me introduce my Brachypelma albiceps
This little guy arrived 13 May 2018 as small, healthy sling. Since then, this little bugger has molted only twice (5 Sept 18, and 1 March 19) and is still living in a small plastic container.
It has a good appetite when it wants to eat. Which is not often. It usually sits on its favourite spot on top of the cork bark piece, does not bother to move even when touched (tho, will most likely get annoyed if kept poking), and has long-as-heck premolt periods.
Am I worried? Nah. The sling is doing perfectly well being a slow growing and chill member of the genus Brachypelma
So no worries new keepers. Your sling / juvie / sub adult / adult is probably doing all ok even if it's not being as active as you think it should be
