Female tarantulas simply reach the point of the annual moult before they are ready to lay eggs.

I believe a G. Roses reached maturity around 3-4 years old.

I've got many mature females that molt twice a year and have dropped sacks. I have had one molt twice and drop two sacks in the same year.
