I dug it out and put food in cage and was sweet to it. The next day gone underground.

If I gave it cork bark instead of sponge bob pineapple, would it stay out? LOL.

Worth a try in my opinion, cork bark is always good and mine do seem to like sitting on it. My curly was also an underground dweller until he became a mature male - he is on top a lot now but only because he's looking for a lady. Please don't dig them out though, it will scare them and make them even less likely to feel safe enough to sit on top. Would you like a giant to come and shake you out of your carefully made cosy bed?!

Does your curly hair have a water dish?

The reason I ask, is because many terrestrial species burrow looking for water, moisture. When moisture is abundant and life above ground is easy and non-threatening they often don't burrow, unless they're hiding an egg sac.

Is your tarantula burrowing because it's thirsty?
