Cleaning/preparing found items

Do any of you use found items in your enclosures? Say, an interesting branch, or an animal skull. If so, how do you clean and prep them so they are safe?

I don't, I know some bake or boil items they find. I just buy things like cork bark and driftwood online if I need them. If I find a container with a lid in the back of the cabinet or in the garage, now that is something that I can put to good use.

I use wood and rocks all the time. I just brush it with water and soap.

I'm planning to get a gbb, and since I live in the country I'm planning to go find a cow skull or deer skull to put in for it to web up.

I have a couple of skulls I'd like to use, down the line. But I'm worried about the teeth and pointy bits....
