Hey yall! I recently acquired 2 8inx8inx12in enclosures. I was planning on doing an isopod enclosure in them, however the shelf I put them on feels like it would better suit a tarantula. I’m looking for inhabitants that are beginner friendly and could live comfortably in these enclosures their entire life. I currently have a Psalmopoeus victori I’ve had success with. Mostly looking for someone not too flighty not so much worried about difficult parameters as I have some fairly advanced systems for maintain humidity and temperature. Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for an arboreal I would recommend Caribena Versicolor, for terrestrial and if you got the cash a Gramostolla Pulchra or the Pulchripes! The Pulchripes being the cheaper. For Aphonopelma's the Chalcodes is very pretty and their laid back as well. Brachys the Smithi and Hamorii are some common choices! There are really a lot of Aphonopelma's, Gramostolla's and Brachys to chose from actually but now that I think about it the G. Pulchripes could outgrow a 8 by 8 by 12 as they can hit the 8" DLS. Really though out them all the Caribena Versicolor IMHO would look sweet next to a Victori! I love me some Psalmos and the Victori is to die for! Probably one of the most unique colored animals on the planet! Happy Spoodering!

Sounds perfect I’ll definitely dive in and do some more research. I have a local place with tarantulas, but I’m not sure who bred them. Where would yall recommend purchasing the animals once I’m ready?

Before looking at the big online retailers check Casey Ks page here on Tarantula Forum. I recently purchased a Juvie Nhandu Tripepii, Ornothoctonis Aureotibialis sling, and a Omythymus Schoidtei sling and all were in great shape. Others here have purchased from Casey as well and you can read her reviews to boot! Do believe she has some of the calmer spoods for sale. As far as online heavy hitters The Spider Shoppe somehow gets quite a bit of my money at times and here recently Exotics Unlimited. Happy Spoodering!!!
