Alright. So Larry finally molted. As we all know, I'm a worrier, and I know I probably shouldn't be because tarantulas are tough af.
It's almost 12 days now since Larry molted. He hasn't eaten in several weeks; his fangs have been black for nearly a week now. He's alive, but he has yet to...
I've tried giving Larry food a few times and no luck, he's still holed up. He has not molted, but his entire hiney has slightly decreased in size and is now very dark/black. Is this normal? He's still very much alive, when I check on him he usually moves, but is this just an extra long molt...
I mean most candle scents come from essential oils, right? SO I should avoid cedar scented candles as best I can.
But are there any other scents he might find unkind? I've been burning wintery scents like pine, there's a few candles I'd like to get but sometimes the combinations of scents smell...
Hi Friends,
I've been reading a little bit about candles and T's. I wanted to get some thoughts from you all.
I know cedar is a natural insect repellent, however, I do enjoy cedar smells in things like cologne and candles. Would a cedar scented candle pose problems for Larry (my T) where the...
Sorry for the confusion; by coconut husk, I mean fiber. It's ground up coconut husk, the type in a compressed brick.
I believe he now had a dark spot on his backside, so he should be shedding soon. But any ideas on the rest of the hiding in a closed burrow? Sometimes when it is closed I see him...
I don't think it's mites or flies; I keep his substrate very dry with the exception of occasionally overflowing his water dish. His substrate is coconut husk.
Could it be candles? I don't burn any in my room, but we do burn some in our home. Recently we have been burning a eucalyptus and mint...
No I know they burrow a lot, but he is closing the opening to his burrow off and not eating for long periods but does not molt during these periods. He also becomes less active during these periods; he typically is very active and excavating at night, but during the periods he does not dig/pile...
Hi guys,
Larry, my curlyhair, keeps acting like he's going to molt, and then doesn't. And what I mean by this, is he will hide underground in his burrow that he has so generously dug a window into for me to observe him, and he will stay down there for days, or sometimes a couple weeks without...
Hi guys!
I got my first T back in June, Scary Larry, and I love him way more than I thought possible! I've decided I think I want to make a vivarium (I am a professional horticulturist and living wall designer, so it's kinda my purview). I think I want to get a Pink Toe.
My local pet shop has...
He usually is in his burrow- has has hollowed out almost the entire bottom of his enclosure. It's really quite impressive, he has more space in his apartment than I do in mine!
There are plenty of times recently I have come home and he has been out and about and has not run away from sending my...
I'm back!!
I love Scary Larry so much, I am so happy I bought him. He's so cute, and he's growing exceptionally fast! I'm seeing him be more and more active- I watched him plug up his burrow a few nights ago and I'm patiently waiting for him to molt for the fourth time since I got him in late...
Thanks for your reply!
The largest issues with this are: 1. I have roommates who are aggressive and won't allow me to run a heater all hours of the day and 2. I have a cat, so my door stays open for her to come and go thru the day.
Hello!
I have a young Honduran Curly Hair, and I live in Boston. My apartment isn't the most well insulated place in the world, so I'm thinking about heating methods in advance before our expectedly harsh winter.
Currently, Larry (spiderling), is still fairly small, and lives in a 1 quart deli...
