Awesome web

Never saw a web like this
I used to live in Virginia and these were my favorite! We usually called them garden spiders or yellow orb weavers; not sure of a species name but I miss them.

Aha! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argiope_aurantia

I’ve read that the inspiration for Charlotte’s Web was a barn spider, but it’s hard for me not to believe it’s one of these - another name for them I’ve heard is “yellow writing spider.” Sadly, they lay eggs around August/September (at least where I lived) and die not long after. It’s amazing how small they look after laying eggs. The egg sac will be near the web and looks almost like a bulbous clay vase, and always would remind me of the lovely neighbor I had on my porch.

@smallbike they are everywhere here I have one that made a huge web on my porch so I leave the light on so bugs get traped and it's easy for it to get food it pretty big I'll post a pic if I see it again
