It's coloration is very underrated. When they mature they are quite striking.
I always root for the underdog. I get obsessed with certain bugs, spiders, and tarantulas, and I find the Texas brown to be fascinating. I have owned a Chilean Rosehair tarantula before this one, and wanted a species found in the USA......and parts of mexico. I heard most of the Aphonopelma family are docile, which is a plus for me. She's turned around bared her fangs once, before realizing it was a beetle that had crawled past her abdomen and promptly pounced on it. I almost bought a Lasiodora Parahybana instead, but I'm saving that for when I have more experience with Ts and more space for housing. I was ten when I got my first tarantula and made the rookie mistake of keeping a sponge in the water dish, it eventually killed my rosehair. I fully intend for this spider to live a long life. Not to long ago I knew way more about true spiders and insects. After about a gazillion books on tarantulas my knowledge is up to par. The water dish is cleaned daily and the cage is completely cleaned every six months. Checking the booklungs and mouth for mites is a regular thing to. I love it all.
