Don't think I have posted this before, but how is this for the most unique pokie out there: P.regalis

Anything look different?

Here is her brother. Not quite as strange, but he has a shortened folio:

Managed to pair them up when he matured, so now waiting for her to fatten up:

From what I have read, she is a case of conjoined twins, so the traits shouldn't carry through, but you never know...

Might be able to see it better here:

There are a few cases of strange abdomens on pokies, but not very common.

The last bunch of regalis and the metallica are mine.

It seems it's a case of conjoined twins.
The female that produced her just had a successful sac, so will see if there are any strange ones in there.
The double folio regalis has been mated with her brother with the shortened folio to see if there are any more abnormalities. Going to be another few months though before she is ready to drop.

Pretty unique. It has been seen before, but not often.
Probably just a twin though, so shouldn't carry over to the offspring. Unfortunately. :(

Luckily both 'halves' were female. If one was male it might have ended in a premature death of the spider.

On the subject of the double folio, go and google "poecilotheria gynandromorph"
Spiders that have half female and half male bodies.
Very interesting. :)

Well, this female produced a viable egg case which I left with her full term. Just managed to rehouse the last of her babies, so got 51 out altogether. Not too bad for such a young female. Unfortunately all of the babies were normal, so no double folio babies resulted from this pairing.
